Finally!....

After what felt like a long time waiting, FINALLY, Dustin, Sophie and I have added to our little family! On Thursday, 4/29 around 3:30pm, we got the call that our expected bundle was on her way. By 4:00pm, cars descended on our house like a police raid! I threw clothes in suitcases... Dustin made airline reservations..Julie packed Sophie a bag to spend the night with Nana...Mom stood looking dazed with a glass of pinot grigio in her hand (hee hee..just kidding). By 8:30pm, Dustin and I were sitting on a plane heading to Chicago. We landed around 12:00am. We drove really fast to the hospital wondering if a cop pulled us over we could explain that we were about to have a baby even though I didn't (hopefully) look pregnant....we jumped out of the car at 12:30am...I was able to go into the delivery room...and at 12:39am Friday morning our little Addison made her appearance. It was absolutely breathtaking! So without further ado...

The "First" Day of School

Well, officially the first day of school was Wednesday....BUT...of course my little one was SICK. She was very excited to go today though. And how she has changed in a year. She was very clear that she wanted Mom to leave and that I could pick her up later. (Should I be happy or sad?) It went well and she had a good day. When she got in the car, she said, "Hi mom, its so nice to see you." :) I love it when she says these random adult-like expressions.

So...here's to a good, tear free, and sick free year!

Meet the Teacher

Sophie doesn't start school until the Wednesday after Labor Day, but Friday we went and met her teacher. She was very excited about her new backback, her new teacher and going to school in general. Let's hope that enthusiam continues next week when she realizes that Mommy isn't staying.

New Haircut

Sophie's hair has been getting longer and longer and thicker and thicker. (Yes, I realize nobody really knows this since I never post on our blog anymore) Between just having really long, thick hair and being in the pool all the time, her hair has been a source of tension between the two of us. Mommy would like to at least brush through it once a day and Sophie would rather never wash or brush her hair...ever. So, we finally shortened it up some. These are some of the pics that Daddy took with his cell phone. She looks so much older. :(

Snow Day!

I know I haven't blogged in forever, but I figured today was a special day since Simpsonville received 6.5 inches of SNOW! Sophie, of course, has been super excited. She started begging to go outside at 6:50am this morning. The first thing she did was lay down and make a snow angel. I don't even know where she learned what a snow angel is. The second thing she did was try to eat as much snow as possible. According to her, "its nummy!"

Me....I am just super excited she got to wear her snow suit at least once this year! :)
